But some animals are more equals than other

Performance / London, UK, 2023

Creating a second analogy of George Owell’s, Animal Farm masterpiece.  This piece looks to represent human arrogance, the ideas of speciesism and how far away we are from actually understanding the absurdity of the fact that we are superior and all the other species are here to comply with our needs. Some actually believe they are not “animals” anymore.

The space was completely covered with straw and a on the center, a pile of «garbage» of metals, wood and iron.  The room had I start by separating the «garbage» around the space, leaving the center completely empty.  The space had bins full of manure and food from different animals.

Upon finishing cleaning, using the elements on the floor, I began to arrange the pieces like a puzzle, one against the other around the space. What at first appeared to be trash begins to take shape. 8 cages. When I finish building the cages, I randomly select different people from the audience to be locked in the different spaces.

After closing the last cage, I sat down with the rest of the audience and watched.

The visitors were locked up in complete silence for more than 5 minutes.
